Neil Stevens Profile

 

Neil is a former NHS Director/Manager with 25 years’ experience in a variety of senior Information Management and Technology roles.

 

Neil is an Information Management professional by background and spent many years supporting effective information systems to support operational Trust activity including Waiting List management and supporting the GP Fundholding process.

 

He is passionate about the role technology can play in improving healthcare delivery and has led an extremely ambitious IT Programme for a Health Informatics Service, involving the modernisation of IT infrastructure to support significant improvements to the delivery of healthcare.

 

Neil has led many national and locally driven IT-enabled change management programmes and projects and is working on the development of interoperability between IT systems across Healthcare sectors in support of healthcare delivery redesign.

 

Since entering the consultancy market Neil has carried out a range of Healthcare assignments including:

  • A review of information provision at Board and Operational Management level to support effective operational and corporate performance management.

  • The design and establishment of a Programme Management Office for a Health Board in Wales.

  • Supporting a number of emerging CSUs with the establishment of their Informatics services, including designing organisational structures, recruiting to posts, staff development and leadership, budget setting (including delivery of 10% cash-releasing savings), developing and implementing strategies for consolidation and rationalisation of IT infrastructure across a large geographical area.

 

  • Working with a number of clinical IT suppliers to help ensure their systems/solutions are designed and implemented to support NHS requirements

  • Led a bid for DoH interoperability funding on behalf of a client which resulted in an award of £60k funding to enable effective information sharing between Acute and Community/Primary care organisations, improving availability of discharge summaries with a direct benefit to patient care and delivery of efficiency gains.

  • Brought in to manage the analysis of information used in the management of waiting list activity for a large Acute Trust which had identified a number of long-wait patients. This required interviewing a number of stakeholders, analysis of information and making a number of recommendations for the Trust Board to consider.

 

Amongst other major system implementations, Neil has been responsible for implementation of Acute, Community and Mental Health EPR systems, county-wide projects such as ePrescribing, Choose and Book and Summary Care Records, and Business Intelligence solutions.
